Let's try to understand
the reasons why we should accept or refuse a scouted player. There are
several steps to follow, as shown below:
Step one:
Age. Only accept 15 year-old players. Exception: 16 year-old players
with a "passable overall" message or a solid/excellent skillcap. 16
year olds that are not eligible for acceptance and 17 year olds will
only be accepted from the last scout and immediately fired in order to
remove them from the youth pool.
Step two:
If the player is 15 years old, the following information needs to be
verified:
- his overall message, if present, should be at least "inadequate";
exception: players with a typical keeper message;
- current skill messages aren't too important, but a passing skill
message usually indicates a gifted youngster;
- when calling from the scout a specific type of player (for instance,
forward) and the scout doesn't offer any kind of information about the
corresponding skill, the player can be accepted, as the scout will
surely bring one with a decent scoring potential; it remains to be seen
just how high that potential is!
Step three:
Accepted 15 year old players without an obvious high skillcap message
will be tried out on different positions in order to find out where
their talent lies. The
secondary training is to be used for finding the skillcaps. When
calling scout, skillcapul the statement is one of the top 3 junior
skillcapuri that this will be the final. The
following protocol is to be followed:
- the first position will always correspond to the type of player the
scout was looking for;
- forwards and central defenders are given Normal orders;
- wingbacks are given Defensive orders to get an idea of their
defending skill, then played Normal; the difference in ratings should
indicate their winger and playmaking abilities;
- wingers are given Offensive orders;
- inner midfielders are first given Offensive orders, then Normal and
Defensive;
- forwards are given Normal orders.
This way, star ratings will give an accurate reflection of the players'
current skill levels.
If you want to find out IMMEDIATELY a player’s skillcap for a certain
skill, you need to give him secondary training for that skill (and play
him in an adequate position). Primary training only brings information
about his current skill level. Players must be used for at least 44
minutes for the info to be generated.
There are many 15 year
olds with low skills and low potentials. Hopefully you won't run across
them.
