Aggie67 is the user with the highest sales resulted from the Youth
Academy. So, let’s see what he has to say:
I’ve always focused on the most talented youth player. I’ve trained him
until reaching his maximum in main skill. If I wasn’t able to promote
him yet, I would go on with training one of his secondary skills. But
it didn’t happen very often. I’d rather have a very young player with a
single main skill than an older multi-skilled guy.
I’ve noticed that youngsters at 17 years and few days are highly
appreciated on the transfer market. They can jump to extremely high
prices. If you focus in a single talented player, you may overlook
other players which were, maybe, worth the effort of being trained. But
– let’s say - a solid midfielder can never compete against a defender
with excellent skill-cap.
I would recommend to any beginner that they start with the maximum
investment in the Youth Academy, with three scouts, even if this could
mean a lot of money for a beginner. But the chances of finding a
fantastic player are increasingly better.
My advice would be to mainly train your most talented player. You gain
more by selling a star than selling five average players.
I don’t think I found the magic
formula to the Youth Academy. What I do is not so different from what
other managers do.
What is certain is that I have a strategy and I stick to it. This is,
certainly, a key-element in my success. However, sales of YA players
are connected mostly with your luck in finding players with high
potential. I’d say that this is the continuous appeal of the game.
Either in the old youth system, or in the Youth Academy, you need luck
in finding your future superstars.
